Tikar Masks

The Tikar dynasties were prominent in the arts, war and government for three centuries leading up to the 19th century. These qualities made them attractive as slaves and prime target for slave traders. As their numbers declined and they fled their villages across the open plains, they were vulnerable to slave traders and vengeful neighboring tribes they'd previously dominated. It is estimated that there are only about 300,000 of them left today.
